Originally from North Sumatra, Indonesia, Doddy has spent over a decade working in the Mentawai Islands, building the kind of local knowledge that only comes from years out on the water.

Navigating the Mentawais isn't always straightforward. Beneath those beautiful turquoise waters lie shallow reefs, narrow passages, and plenty of obstacles that demand experience and a careful eye. For a dinghy driver, knowing where to go is just as important as knowing where not to go.

That's where Doddy comes in. With years of experience behind the wheel, he knows these waters incredibly well, helping our guests get from Odyssey to the surf breaks and safely back onboard.

But it's not just his experience that makes him such a valuable part of the team. Doddy brings great energy wherever he goes. Funny, easygoing, and almost always wearing a smile, he's one of those people who makes life onboard that much better.

Having been part of the Odyssey crew for just over a year, Doddy has become an important member of our team. Whether he's navigating reef passages or taking surfers out for another session, we're glad to have him behind the wheel.

Originally from Padang, Indonesia, Angy has spent the past 15 years working on boats, developing an incredible understanding of just about everything that makes a vessel tick.

Engines, generators, plumbing, electrical systems, air conditioning — you name it, Angy knows his way around it. Out in the remote Mentawai Islands, where the nearest workshop can be hours away, having someone with his knowledge and experience onboard makes all the difference.

Angy has been part of Odyssey since the very beginning, having already worked alongside our partners for years before joining the crew. He's one of the most important people behind every successful trip, quietly making sure everything keeps running as it should.

And when we say this guy can fix just about anything, we mean it. Give Angy a broken engine and a spoon, and he'll probably find a way to make it work! His skills go well beyond the engine room, too. You'll often find him helping guests with small surfboard repairs during a trip — not because it's his job, but simply because he knows how to help and is happy to do it.

At first, Angy might seem like the quiet one onboard. But give him a little time, and you'll discover a completely different side of him. And if there's a karaoke night on Odyssey, don't be surprised if our quiet mechanic suddenly becomes one of the most enthusiastic guys in the room!

Knowledgeable, resourceful, and always willing to lend a hand, Angy is an irreplaceable part of the Odyssey family. He might not always be the first person you notice onboard, but he's certainly one of the reasons every adventure is possible.

Originally from Padang, Indonesia, Rikki's connection to the Mentawai Islands goes far beyond his work at sea. Married to a local Mentawai woman, Rikki lives with his family in Sikakap, South Mentawai, just a short journey from some of the most beautiful surf destinations in the world. In fact, the legendary Macaronis surf break is only about an hour and a half away by speedboat!

With years of experience working aboard boats, Rikki is our true jack of all trades. His main responsibility is making sure Odyssey stays clean, comfortable, and welcoming throughout every trip. From looking after guest cabins and bathrooms to washing dishes, helping Randy in the kitchen, and lending Angy a hand whenever needed, Rikki is always finding something useful to do.

But what really makes Rikki special is his personality. Funny, talkative, and always up for a conversation, he speaks excellent English and has a natural ability to connect with our guests. He's the kind of person who makes everyone feel comfortable onboard, and his friendly attitude is something guests consistently appreciate.

One of our favorite little moments happens when Odyssey stops in Sikakap to refuel during a trip. Since this is where Rikki lives with his family, he sometimes gets the opportunity to show guests a little of his world. From visiting local fish farms where lobsters and oysters are raised to exploring the town, these unexpected stops offer a glimpse into everyday life in the Mentawais. And, of course, there's something pretty special about Rikki getting the chance to sneak in a quick hello to his wife halfway through a surf charter!

Rikki has been part of Odyssey since the very beginning. His reliability, strong work ethic, and genuine care for our guests have made him one of the people we count on most.

He might be the guy doing a little bit of everything, but to us, Rikki is a big part of what makes Odyssey work!

Every captain has a story, and Ryo's is one built on years of hard work, determination, and a dream that never changed.

For the past 15 years, Ryo has dedicated his career to working on boats, building his experience from the ground up. He didn't start behind the wheel. Like many great stories at sea, his journey began as a crew member, working aboard different vessels, learning the industry, and steadily making his way toward the position he'd always wanted: Captain.

When Ryo joined Odyssey full-time, he was already in the final stages of achieving that dream. We had always believed in him and had a place reserved for him at the helm, knowing that his years of dedication would eventually bring him there.

And that's exactly what happened.

After years of working his way up, Ryo officially stepped into his role as Odyssey's captain, turning a long-held ambition into reality.

Today, Ryo leads Odyssey from the wheelhouse, bringing with him the perspective of someone who knows what it means to work his way through the crew. His story represents something we value deeply at Odyssey: giving hardworking people the opportunity to grow, achieve their goals, and become part of something bigger.

For us, having Ryo as our captain isn't just about who's steering the boat. It's about seeing someone who worked toward a dream for years finally take his place at the helm.

And we're proud that place is aboard Odyssey.
